Calibre-parallel.exe hanging and not opening windows

I have been using Calibre for many years, unfortunately few last versions of Calibre (W7-64bit) I again get again and again in to following troubles:
secondary task windows do not show up even if the respective process runs as calibre-paralel.exe in the process manager. I cannot figure out any reason. Is there a way via debug to analyse what may cause this kind of problem?
Furthermore very often the secondary window (f.e. i want to open the module update window) starts INVISIBLE so after that calibre becomes unusable, whenewer I click I can here the "ring" but calibre does not react because it wants me to work with the secondary unfortunately "invisible" window wiht "modules/plugin listing" and the only way to work with calibre again is: to shut down the main calibre process..
This is becoming really annoying ...
Of course I tried several times to uninstall and install calibre again with no real improvement.

thank you in advance for any hint

seems I found a preliminary fast "fix" i simply switched to the 32bit version of calibre 4.2, which seems less buggy than the 64bit version (which hopefully will be fixed soon as well). Anyway calibre is still excellent and unique SW and so far I will stick with the 32bit version (even if i am running 64bit W7)

The problem is with Windows 7 not being properly supported by the QT used in the new Calibre 4.x. The reason for this is Win 7 is at it's end of life.

To make sure that Calibre will run properly, you can upgrade your Win 7 to Win 10 for free.

There is always Linux. I was at your point years ago, then discovered Ubuntu, which will let you easily set up a dual-boot system. That way you keep W7, and get to run Calibre and other things on a system where they really work. I ran dual for several years, then finally just gave up on Windows.
