Calibre 4.0 Won't Run
I just tried the update today and have had no opportunity to use it as when trying to open it I get the error message:
"LoadLibrary failed with error 1114: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed." What should I do? |

Tell us a bit about your computer - is it a laptop, what sort of graphics does it have, what version of Windows are you using etc.
Meantime you could uninstall 4.0 and reinstall 3.48 - you won't lose any settings/plugins etc or books. BR |

You dont need to run calibre debug you need to fix the graphics drivers on your system as the poster in that thread did.

I've been getting the same error (error 1114) recently with Calibre2 on Windows 10. While, fixing the graphics driver according to the thread kovidgoyal mentioned worked for me, I found a less annoying solution, but it only applies if your system has ATI Switchable Graphics hardware like mine. If you do have an ATI switchable graphics try running Catalyst Control Center in advanced mode, (2) in CCC go to "Power" section and then (3) go to "Switchable Graphics Application Settings" (4) If Calibre is not listed hit "add application" then (5) set the Calibre listing to "high performance" mode.

We are on Calibre 4, but some folk hate the latest changes so the use Calibre 3.47.1 |

My Calibre 4.40 won't load.
Problem started with Calibre 4 ebook reader not working. Displaying blank page. Tried various solutions offered on the web to no avail. The latest release 4.40 did not fix this, So I did a full uninstall including cleaning the registry and reinstalled. Calibre would not open. So i went back to release 3.48 and all works. I am running the latest release of Windows 10, and have the latest ATI drivers (but they are old) so based on this thread it seems like some problem with release 4 and ATI drivers. I would like to move to the latest version but cant because of this. |

Initially the viewer on all versions of 4 did not work at all.
After the re-installation of 4.4, nothing worked. |

I would delete the Viewer Preference file (you will lose any viewer settings)
viewer.py viewer.py.json viewer.json (the others are new, so I am not sure they get rebuilt if missing. You could just move all viewer.* files to a safe place, then start Calibre |
