Now that the max 3 is out, is there any news about the next version of the note?

yes, so onyx boox note 2 is a boox note 10.3inch with hardware of boox max3. Great!
It's more noteworthy improvements are the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 9 which bring better responsiveness and features to the device.

Anyone think that they will release a note 2 pro later? Following they past series of notes? And if so, what "improvement" could it have?

Of course they will, if you go by the name. Probably in 6 months may be, considering how quickly they update their devices.

I was actually about to buy a Note Pro this week but may hold off for this Note 2.

"Onyx Boox Note 2 , an ebook reader that inherits most of the DNA from the previous version but it has also suffered the "contamination" of the last Onyx Boox Max3 "

I read the Max 3 review and cannot figure out what "contamination" they are speaking of. Or is this just a bad translation since this was an Italian site?

From what I can tell the Note 2 will be better than the Note Pro due to a faster processor, bigger battery, play store already installed, android 9 and OTG USB C. Is there a flaw I am missing?

I hate that they hold the innovation on the products...just release simultaneously 2 or 3 and let us decide...

Im thinking that is the translation. It is a Note pro (screen size) with the specs of max 3 (except for the monitor function).....

yes, I think "contamination" means that boox note 2 was influenced by boox max3 about specs. no defect

The German eShop doesn't have for some time now note pro in stock and some left over note were selling at a discount, so I was thinking that a replacement would be out very soon.
The new one has all updates of the pro, so it makes sense not to wait for an updated pro/S/whatever version. I do not think that a current hardware tech isn't included in this one.
If OneNote export from the propiertary app and Dropbox work well, well I do not think I want anything more...
I will probably get this for Xmas!

After watching the video above, it looks like the Note 2 has the the front light so no Pro version necessary unless they add something else like monitor support. This may be the one I finally buy.

2020 will be the Note 2 and Microsoft Duo Phone... not sure If the lady will allow me to buy anything else

Boox Note 2 is -almost- out. You can pre-order in the German eshop to be shipped in 7-8 days. Presumably it's on sale, but we don't know how much the price will go up after it is readily available.
