Exclamation Missing formatting menu for Metadata comments?

The formatting menu (where you can typically just choose icons for formatting - bold, italic, underline, align left/right/center, etc.) for the comments section randomly disappeared from the Edit Metadata page.... how do I get it back? :-(

I've tried resetting all the menu/taskbar settings back to default, and everything else I could think of and multiple searches have yielded no other ideas. Please help!

You did not mention if you did a right-click within the Comments and chose "Show toolbar" from the popup menu—the normal way that set of icons appears/disappears.

OMG another one snuck in

The wording is 'Show Toolbar' (or 'Hide Toolbar')

This did it! I didn't even notice that. I figured I was probably missing something obvious

missing something obvious...
Actually, it is not so obvious, is it? Perhaps a small clickable icon in that area would help inform users of the feature. But there is always the conflict with a similarly important need to keep an interface as clean as possible. With Calibre it is a good habit to right-click every exposed surface. ;-)

Or a Show/Hide toolbar button alongside the OK button
