Libra covers

I was happy to see that the first Kobo Libra cover has appeared at Aliexpress.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...chweb201603_52

It's much cheaper than the official Kobo one (10.39 usd for the solid colors and 11.69 for the prints) and it looks just like the one I got there for my Forma, which has been fine. I ordered one in navy and one in rose gold (my Libra is white).

I already have the one from Kobo, in light gray. It's perfectly functional, but that's about all you can say for it. I only got it because I was too impatient to wait for the third party cases. It's overpriced, the gray is ok but lifeless, and it has the usual odd bubbly texture that Kobo seems to like.

The bolded section is pretty much the dictionary definition of "understatement" -I'm astonished that Kobo charges 20% of the price of the reader for a cover that Shenzhen alibaba/ebay can spit out for pennies (even more so since I'd wager the Kobo covers ARE from Shenzhen anyway)

For the first time ever I'm buying a sleeve instead of a cover - felt, in a blue that is very similar to that of the original cover from Kobo. It's from a store on Etsy (phocket) that makes sleeves for many readers and accepts custom sizes as well (they didn't have the Libra yet). I'll let you know how it is once it arrives.

Just checking that you know that the Libra has a fragile glass substrate, not the flexible plastic (Mobius) of the Forma?

Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm just not planning on bringing it out of the house much (I'm still using my Glo HD), and I'm pretty careful with my devices, so I decided to take this risk.

For those who like leather covers, I purchased one from Oberon Design (https://www.oberondesign.com/collections/kindle-oasis). The Kindle Oasis (3rd gen) work great for my Libra. I did have to move the magnet so the sleep function would work but that was pretty easy.

I've been using a felt case for mine & reading without a cover. I hate the origami cases & certainly wouldn't pay Kobo's price for theirs.
So far it's survived being taken out & about.

Are the new covers working out all right? (if you've got them delivered, that is.) Do they seem sturdy enough? I'm looking around to buy a cover, so I wondered. Thank you in advance.

Tolino just release a slew of new models. One of which is the vision 5 which is a libra clone. They have a good amount of covers if you're able to buy from germany.
