Periodically Lose Position in Book

Sometime I will open a book and rather than calibre opening the book where I stopped reading, it will open at the beginning of the book (or near the beginning). Why might this be happening?

When I close calibre I always close any books before in close the main program. Am I doing something wrong?

I wish calibre had a 'Save' button to force remember book location.

I assume you are speaking about the 'viewer'?
What version (and OS) of Calibre?

I think the viewer opens on the current file (section), not the precise location. This probably ends up a the beginning, if the book was a single large (main) body file.

Hi, and thank you.

I am using calibre 3.48 64bit. And yes I mean the viewer.

Most times, and for most books, the viewer opens to the last reading location.

I need to learn the structure of the book files to gain a better understanding.

@GarryB123 - What format are you reading - the viewer is an EPUB viewer

If some of your books don't have EPUB, they will (**) be 'quick converted' to EPUB by the viewer - maybe it's those books that are not returning to last read position.

** If the format is checked in Preferencess-Behaviour->Use viewer for: list

Thank you.

As a matter of practice I convert all books to EPUB upon import and before viewing them but I will watch carefully next time I have a book not opening in the viewer at the place I left off. Such hasn't happened for a few days.
