[Kobo Glo HD N437 - Unresponsive to Screen Touches when not plugged in or connected to WiFi]
I'm at a total loss. Brand new Kobo Glo HD N437, ordered online from Aliexpress. Works like a charm, apart from it becoming unresponsive to any screen touches UNLESS plugged in OR connected to WiFi. How weird is that? The screen touches are actually paused/delayed until either plugged in or conconnected to WiFi, and then all the touches come through at once. It's as if they get held until a trigger that frees up the movement again... Tried both a soft and hard factory reset and an automatic online update to the latest firmware with my new kobo account, as well as changing every setting. No luck. I'd love for this to not be a hardware issue. Maybe some useless file in the firmware or hidden directories just needs a little coding change or deletion? I've searched everywhere online and have come up with nothing. Please help us, Obi-Wan. You're our only hope. 🙏🏻 |

Have you tried reimaging the internal SD? It could be the iMX CPU getting hung on something. (please note: I do not know if the Glo HD has an internal SD card like most models) Worth a try.

What does this mean? Honestly, I have no idea what you mean by these actions. I know what a "factory reset" is and how to do them in different ways on all my devices. But, I have no idea what the difference between "soft" and "hard" would be.
Well, I can think of a difference, but, as it something that was added in the 4.15.x firmware release, I don't think that is what you are talking about. Except by accident. Quote:
If it did respond, then maybe it is software. In that case, I would suggest doing the setup using the PC and Kobo desktop application, but, before ejecting the device, remove the firmware update files and testing with the factory firmware. The files to remove are in the ".kobo" directory. The are the files "KoboRoot.tgz" and "manifest.md5sum" and the directory "upgrade". Do the factory reset using these instructions: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kob...ing_squares.22 |

Here's a screenshot of the directory: I've just done another reset. No change. |
