search to show only lowest book in each series
Hi,
When marking a search, or virtual library, is there a way to only show whatever earliest/lowest entry there is for each series? That is, at this point I already filtered out various other things with other conditions, and already made sure only books with series exists (by series:true), but for some series multiple books match the existing criteria, and I want only the first. For example for series A the windows shows books 2 and 3, and for series B it shows book 5 and for series C it shows books 3 and 4. What I want to see are not all these 5 books, but just 3 books: A[2], B[5], and C[3] . The result should be ideally like any search result in the main window. But if it's only doable with some plug-in, I need the result in a "workable" format, that will allow to do things with all matching books like send to device, bulk edit, bulk convert, and such. Thanks for any assistance. |

You can search for a particular series number, such as series_index:2 but you cannot search for the lowest in a series, since searches operate on a singe book at a time and "lowest in series" requires the search to match across multiple books.

That's what I expected, considering how search works, but I figured it's worth asking in hope there's maybe some additional lookup or filtering functionality I haven't seen.
Oh, well, so it's sort by series and filter by eye... ![]() Thanks anyway for the quick response (And of course for Calibre itself). |
