Weird square blurb on restart...(latest paperwhite)
Hi guys. Dunno if this is normal, or if I did something...
I turn of my kindle at night, and when I turn it on next day there seems to be a small square advert or something top left corner-ish. Is this normal, or me...?? Thanks. |

Have you already jail broken this device or is it "untouched" (no pun intended)?

That's pretty much going to be a case of "pics or it didn't happen", because I have no idea what you might be talking about

All Kindles that I can think of will create a "screenshot" ... Use a two finger touch, one finger on each diagonal corner of the screen. Either diagonal pair of corners. Last edited by knc1; 07-29-2019 at 08:03 AM. |

Is this a Special Offers device? Do you have the ScreenSavers hack installed? Do you usually read in Landscape (or Inverted Portrait, if that's possible on your device)?

Just a regular Paperwhite, afaik. Don't recall any screensaver hack being installed. I always read in landscape mode.

At the end of the day, this is really no biggie. One touch and it goes away. If I can get rid of it, well great. If not, I'll survive just fine.
I figure I likely screwed the pooch during the install.... Thanks |

Possibly a quirk because you're reading in Landscape.
I know it can cause weird little glitches in some very specific circumstances. Weird that those would be exposed on a vanilla device, but, eh. |

You must be trying to use the factory's "Q. and A. firmware".
Install a consumer firmware from the Amazon server. Go to your product page, select the "update" link, edit the version number to pick the version you want (all updates are present on the Amazon server(s)) Edit: That "store" panel looks a lot like a "Special Offers" panel.
