Error in Calibre Version 3.45 64bit

when I open any epub in EDIT METADATA, once i scroll down then click the X to close i get the following error:

Is it possible that one or more of the plugins are malfunctioning with this version of calibre?
This error only occurs since update from 3.44 to 3.45

No, this is a windows specific issue with this release. I am tracking down the cause, will make an update when I have figured it out. In the meantime I suggest downgrading to 3.44 if you are on windows. Old releases of calibre are available from: https://download.calibre-ebook.com/3.44.0/

Same root problem here. This error pops up twice when closing the reader, and once when closing the editor. Screen shot attached.

I installed version 3.45.1 today on Windows 10, 32 bit, but got an error message (see attachment). Has this to do with the previous errors?

edit: The attqachment has not been uploaded. New trial.

@Kovid: That looks like an occasional problem seen with the KoboTouchExtended driver. It occasionally has issues working out the path for Windows users that have accented or similar characters in their usernames. Such as "Jürgen". And searching through the KoboTouchExtended driver, @Leonatus has actually hit the problem with the driver a couple of years ago.

Maybe this could help this time again, so I add the global.py once more:

This was caused by the interaction of some python 3 porting work with a bug in python 2 on windows, version 3.45.2 with the fix will be released in a few minutes.
