Reset the counter in a series

I imported books from different libraries and the number of books is 100, but the series counter is at 141 and I have 3 (1), 2 (10), 3 (15) etc, but none (2), (3) ...
How to make the calibre to re-number books in this series from 1 to 100, and I'd like to avoid doing this manually ie. one-by-one.

Manage series Plugin can help. You select books: Launch the PI: Set the Name (if not correct: Set the start number: Drag into order: Lock number if you need to jum a gap.

BTW there is a Tweak that controls the Index assignment whe adding books

First, how do I launch PI? Never done that before ...

When I copy a book from lib to lib it seems to keep its old series index ...

If it's an optional plugin (such as Manage Series), you have to install it via Preferences->Plugins. Most GUI plugins will add their push button icon to the main toolbar when you install them.

The first post in the plugin thread (see ==>> Index of plugins) will normally have How to use instructions, and most controls/widgets/fields will have mouse hover tooltips

Right click the Preferences Icon: Get plugins

these are the ones show in the MR index of plugins. There is a short description shown (on bottom) for the one highlighted. But: there is a clickable link (right side, just above the summary) to the MR thread dedicated to that PI, for more info an usage/config tips).

Those are not ALL the Plugins you can use with Calibre, just the ones submitted here that might have wide appeal. The rest (from other places) are installed (or removed) via Preferences: Plugins: (buttons at the bottom)

I found & installed Manage Series, but still, it will not re-index a series, it has to be done one-by-one, by clicking "OK" to each item in a series, or am I missing something?

@iPol - it is better to ask questions about a specific plugin in that plugin's thread. Other users of the plugin are more likely to notice it there. Did you browse/search the Manage Series thread, your issue may have already been addressed.

Plugin instructions are found at the top (first few posts) of the forum dedicated to a specific PI. The Index (or forum link in Calibres Get Plugins. list) will jump you there.

Basic summary of how to sequence:

Select (highlight) the GROUP of Books that belong to the SAME series.

Launch the plugin. It will show the books, Suggest a series name (may be wrong if there is more than 1 in your group. Just change it ).

Use the arrow buttons / drag the entries to their proper order. The LOCK button, allows settings for gaps or fractional values between the normal values. (the presented list will be biased by the previous values)
