control duplicate detection when adding books?

If I have a book by author A with a title, say, "Collected Works" and I try to add a book with the same title by author B, I get the warning dialog about a duplicate book.

Is it possible to configure calibre to compare both the author and book title for determining when a duplicate is being added?

No

One of the reasons some people add books to an Intake library is that they can make use of the Find Duplicates(optional plugin)->Find library duplicates option which offers different degrees of matching for Title and Author.

Ok, thanks.

It's not a big thing; I can just click the button in the dialog box to make it add it. It's annoying for me because I have 2 monitors with calibre on the right one, and when this dialog box pops up it's on the left monitor, and always under whatever window is full screen on it. So I'm left staring at the progress box on the right monitor sitting there taking forever, wondering what's going on.

IMO you should do whatever it takes to stop the pop-up messages appearing on the left monitor. That's not an issue calibre can address. If you're using one of the multi-monitor management packages you should be able to control it via it's configuration settings.

Welcome to windows, where dialog often pop on the Main monitor , not the one where the main app is opened

I'm too old to be trying to make things perfect and have learned to live with these vexing glitches and try to just roll my eyes and accept the warts. And no multi-monitor management packages for me.

I think it's like theducks is saying, it's some Windows glitch. The left monitor has been designated as the main monitor, where the login window shows when I restart.

I get even weirder glitches with Sigil; when I click on the pull down menus for the search box, they appear on the left monitor where they'd be if Sigil was on that monitor. Clicking twice more makes them show up properly on the right monitor. This started with the latest version of Sigil.
