Need help hitting 'Next' in Edit Metadata window

I'm trying to organize my Kindle library (and learn about Calibre) and I've found myself in a briar patch: when I've edited a field or some fields, I'd like to keep my hands on the keyboard and advance to the next record. However, the 'Next' button (which has an underlined 'N' denoting it can be accessed using the Alt key and N key—see the screenshot below), won't respond to that magic key combination.

I've tried tabbing around hoping I would move the focus out of a jailhouse area but no joy. Please advise; this is really tedious <whimper>.

This only works if you don't want to increase a series by one every time you correct the next book in the series! I tried that with some of my older books and now every single book in the series (and there are actually 14) is labelled as # 1!

If you edit in the book list the series column presents as a single field e.g. "Series [2]" change it however it suits.
