Wrong font for foreign letters
Hello. As you can see in this screenshot the letters ā, ī etc. aren't in the same font as the rest of the text. How can I fix it? Any help would be very appreciated

Not knowing the language.
Render engines sometime substitute characters when the specified (the default be what is used if non-specified) glyph is not in the current set. Find a COMPLETE set for your needs and include the needed font family: and embed that font (if needed) add @font-face to link it to the font-family |

Nikaya's are Theravada Buddhist texts, there's five of them, the four cited are the major texts, so language would be Pali.
I'm not sure what the OP's issue is, the Pali words are rendered used a 'Latinised' Pali script with its standard diacritics, and the English words are presumably rendered using a Latin script with no diacritics - apart from tittles on 'eye's and 'jay's ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 05-08-2019 at 06:54 PM. |

I believe the OP is referring to things like the long-i and long-a seem to be sans regular, and the rest appear to be serif italic.

How you can fix this depends on your book and reading device/app. As theducks suggested, it appears that the primary font does not contain the marked characters (or at least not in italic form) and they are being substituted.
The font choices could be specified by the book itself or default for your reader. Depending on the combination, your options are to: - Chose a different font if your reader/app allows you to, or - Edit the ebook file to reference or embed a font that contains all the necessary characters. This will probably involve editing the .CSS file. Calibre will let you do this, and you can probably search Mobileread for some examples of the changes you will need to make to do so. |
