Automatically transliterate titles?
Does anyone know of a tool to automatically transliterate titles?
(Preferably allowing user tweaks, since I'm using slightly-modified BGN/PCGN transliteration.) It's a pain trying to retype each title, it's a *lot* of typing, I can't always fit the original and the transliteration into one screen, and I can't see what I've just typed with the cursor blinking. I want a consistent style when I cite sources, and I want it to be readable on devices which only support the Roman alphabet. |

Calibre has a built-in transliterate function. You can do a bulk metadata edit search and replace (Regular Expression mode) either to replace the existing title or copy the transliterated title to a new custom column.
Code:
{title:'transliterate($)'} |

P.S. I don't think the function itself is customizable unless you run Calibre from source and modify the source code.
However, if you do the replacements in batches of 10 or less, you can preview the transliterated titles in the bulk s/r dialog to decide which titles need further "massaging" or modify the template to include additional regex replacement. https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gen..._ref.html#id78 |

Thank you, but that's not working for me. And I can't see what I'm doing or what I've typed in that dialogue with the blinding cursor.
