Harvard Classics (a.k.a. 5-foot Book Shelf)

Has anyone successfully converted this from AZW3 to ePub? How long did it take?

AZW3 to EPUB should be straight forward (fairly quick) as AZW3 is basically a wrapper for EPUB.

I have not tried Kindle Unpack as an alternate way to extract pieces.

Well, I was afraid that it would be like the Bible and other books that contained several sub-books which have been reported as choking Calibre. However, it has finished and only took between 1 & 2 hours, of course it is a 52.2 MB file!

Now EPUB split it
IMHO books that size are absurd when there is no reason. How many Han Held devices can handle that without bogging down?

Well, when I tried to put the ePub made by Calibre into MapleRead, MapleRead gives an Error alert. I'll have to ask over in the MR forum.

And the suggestion was to split it back into the individual volumes. It makes it easier on devices that are low on RAM and CPU power (i.e., 90% of the ereaders out there). The verison I picked up had the original 51 volumes and 20 extra (The Fiction shelf).

EPUBSplit does a decent (and automated) job of this.
