Highlights from side loaded book?
I’m very interested in getting a forma, but I read a bunch of theology books that are not available on kobo so I’ll be side loading them. Can anyone confirm they have done so and been able get the highlights off to use in writing papers?

Just some format that I can copy and paste and not have to type out?

Also, if possible, what exactly will I need to do?

Thanks for any help you can give me, I wanna kick Amazon to the curb, but need to be able to do this

There has been a lot of discussion on this topic, including a couple of threads this year. But, this post of mine gives an overview of the available methods. Nothing has changed recently, so it is still correct.

I don't know if any of them are suitable for references needed for writing papers. They give you the highlighted text, any annotation you make and a vague location. The location is chapter name and a percent read. Any of the methods listed should give you something you can copy elsewhere.

The books you intent to sideload must be available as epub.. I don't think text higliting is an option on the Kobo for PDFs. And PDF to epub conversion will, depending on the source be range from utter trash to 'well, at least I can read it.'
