Well, I think Woot hopes you'll buy one or two of each (even more). If I was in the market for a new eReader, I would probably look at the Refurbished Voyage for $100. Or maybe the Kindle 3 for $20.

Of the ones listed at Woot!, yeah, I think the $100 Voyage is the winner. I played around a little with a Kindle today at Target and I really didn't like it much. Something like getting to the table of contents seemed too convoluted to me (using the copy of The Great Gatsby that was loaded on the display device).

Maybe I was just having a bad experience. I dunno.

Funny, I went to Best Buy and saw the new Paperwhite for the first time on Friday. Unfortunately they don't let you do anything with them anymore — just watch a demonstration. I liked the "heft" of it (how light it was) and thought it looked well built. The images on the screen were nice and dark, but often graphics are darker and sharper than the actual fonts on these, so it doesn't tell you much. At any rate, the flush screen impressed me and am glad that I got the Tolino Vision 2. If the build is similar to the original Kobo Aura (which I think it is) I can see why you like the Aura.

Target had a demonstration on the screen, but I was able to exit out of it. I think not letting potential buyers experiment with the display model is a mistake. Maybe they figure Kindle is such a known quantity at this time that isn't needed?

The new Paperwhite does remind me of my Aura. I still have a soft spot for that little device, which is partly why the Glowlight Plus hasn't completely taken over my reading life.

Best Buy has been doing this for a while now. I don't like it at all. I noticed they still had a couple of the Paperwhite 3s on sale, for $20 more than the Paperwhite 4s, which is kind of odd.

I really like the Tolino Vision 2. Small, light, bright screen, dark fonts and can be dimmed way down for night reading. It looks like the Tolinos are turning into my "go to" readers. Hardware-wise the Visions are basically your Aura, except slightly longer and with a home button (and an E-Carta screen). (And versions 2 through 4 are waterproof.)

I saw the same. I feel bad for anyone who accidentally buys a Paperwhite 3 at full price as a gift.

Yeah, after your previous mention, I checked out a review of the Tolino Vision HD 3. But it didn't look to be an improvement on my Glowlight Plus. It may be smaller, but it's not like the Glowlight Plus feels gigantic.

A mistake indeed. I bought my first Oasis only because the worker at the airport bookstore/kiosk took one out of the box for me. I wasn’t supposed to turn it on but doing so sure helped me convince my wife to let me buy it :D

It's not that much smaller. And the Tolino interface is pretty spartan. I'm just cheap. The Vision 2 was priced well from a seller I've bought from before. And, to be honest, I'm getting used to the Tolinos and I like their "spartan" interface.

You might like the newer Nooks. Have you spent any time with a Glowlight 3?

Careful with Woot "refurbished" Kindles. I bought a Voyage last month and they shipped me a Paperwhite. Shipped that back and received a Voyage with multiple pinholes throughout the bottom portion of the screen.

Dealing with customer service now for round three, but at this point I'm about to call it a loss and write off Woot for this sort of purchase.
