Mobile view looks ... interesting on tolino (shine 3)

Since the tolino can't display the default view (perhaps because of javascript etc.) I use the mobile view in this case. This looks more or less usable but I wonder why there is this question mark symbol as a preceding every title. My first guess is that this is a character which isn't available in the font the tolino browser uses. But on my mobile phone there isn't shown anything special at this position. So why is that?

the character is likely a unicode space character such as the non-breaking space.

Ah, thanks. But it is different from  , right? Maybe   would be more ... compatible?

yeah but it wastes space, which is at a premium on mobiles.

Since it keeps bothering me (sorry)... But... I wonder whether this space character is necessary at all? Does it have a special meaning/function at this position (beginning of a title)?
