Series novellas numbering issue/question
Hello
I am trying to code number some novellas for the Expanse series and for some reason (if not for the "as designed" behavior) they get numbered as 5.50 (for example). Is there a way to have them counted as 5.5/6.5 etc? Thank you in advance. Last edited by Crusher; 10-22-2018 at 01:47 AM. |

5.5= 5.50
i have those same novellas, numbered that way. i don't think you can not have 2 decimal places, unless you build your own series column and rules |

So that would mean is only a "visual" issue as when the book is saved on the device the Series tag number will actually be 5.5?

It shouldn't matter, though. 5.5 is exactly the same value as 5.50, just like 01 is exactly the same value as 1. Trailing zeroes after a decimal point don't change the value of the number at all. If the issue is that you want it to look a certain way, then you can set up a custom plugboard for Calibre to use when sending the book to your device, and format the series number to only allow one digit after the decimal point. |

Use this in the template
Code:
{series_index:0>5.2f}
07.50 FWIW there is a similar example of formatted numbers in the field list for Send To Disk and Device |

this is the crunch issue,
you are sending books from calibre to a tablet? somehow? then displaying a list of books in a reader app? for good advice you need to say what transfer mechanism you are using e.g. usb cable, browser to content server, calibre companion app ? and what you are then using to view the list of books on the device|: e.g. a reader app, a file explorer app.... or are you concerned with how calibre presents the on-device view while connected. |
