Change Location for eBooks

Hello,

First of all, I would like to thanks the developer(s) who participate in the Calibre project, it is a great software, I can no longer do without it to manage my books.

Second, it's possible to change the path / folder of a eBook I added to Caliber?

Example :

I added my eBook, "Programming in C++" via Caliber Portable, so the book is in the ".\Caliber\Caliber Library" folder.
But I also have a copy in another folder.

Concerning eBooks that are not too heavy (1 - 99 MB), that's fine with me, but for heavy eBooks, larger than 100 MB, I'm starting to have a serious problem with the space on my hard disk.

Is it possible to define a location for each eBook and therefore not 2 copies of it?

Regards.

Simple answer: No (there is a FAQ on this)

2 copies indicates one of a couple of things:
The title AND Author have differences. That could be because the metadata inside the book was changed/updated or someone imported using the Filename.
Another reason could be that you simply had the duplicate format detection set to allow dups

I suspect that he means that he has his original copy of the ebook in a folder outside of the calibre library and would like calibre to point to that copy instead of copying it into calibre's library structure when adding the ebook to calibre.

If this was indeed the question, the answer is still No.

@Bouboule - The question you must as yourself is: "Once I add a book to calibre, why do I need to keep the copy of the book file elsewhere?"

Most (all ?) book stores keep a record of your purchases and they allow you to download the book again, and again, and . . .

I keep incremental backups of all my data, including calibre libraries, on a local USB 3.0 disk drives (daily), and on a cloud service (weekly).

Oh ok

Thanks you

I will delete books that are in my library (and are in other folder), and so I will save 20 GB of space.

I'm a bit of a belt-and-suspenders person. After I add a book to calibre, I move the original to a holding folder. I empty the holding folder only after I've made a backup of the whole calibre library and tested the backup.

I keep my originals on several 2-4 TB external disks. Also I have my calibre library backed up on those same disks and in Dropbox, for good measure.
