Binns, Ottwell: The Grey Rat (1931), v.1
Ottwell Binns (1872-1935) was a British Noncomformist minister, and the prolific author of many action and adventure novels, mostly set in exotic locales-- Asia, the French Riviera, and specially the Yukon.
This novel opens with the gunning-down of an American secret agent in Piccadilly, moves brisky to Yorkshire and thence to the tangled steep alleyways and streets of Roquebrune, high above Monaco. It was published as a serial in an Australian weekly in 1931, under the title "The Shuyler Mystery", which is the source of the text of this digital edition. I couldn't find a contemporary cover or jacket, so I made a cover using a scan of a contemporary hardback, and adding text.
