Two questions - please help

Good morning.
I am hoping to get some help regarding 2 issues which may or may not be connected.
This is my setup: Windows 10 laptop; Calibre Library folder is synced to Box.com. I usually add books to my Library through Calibre software, one by one.

1. I have recently become aware that in my Calibre folder there are books that do not appear in the Calibre software. How did this happen?! What can do about it?
2. I have noticed that in my Calibre Library folder (on my laptop) there are several metadata files with filenames that include my email. They exist also online, in my Box.com corresponding folder. They look like this: "metadata (...@gmail.com 3).db" - please see picture.
What are they?! Can I delete them?

Thank you very much for any help and/or suggestions.

You have Versioning turned on , every change (add, delete, rename) is a version
BUT
The real issue is:
https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...rked-drive-nas

You need to stop sync while using calibre.

Stop Sync.Run full Library Maintenance (right click Library Icon). Fix issues

No doubt, I was running the box.com sync all the time - will not do that anymore!
Sorry to be so dense: WHERE do I have versioning on and how do I remove it? (in Calibre? in Box.com? in my Windows?)
Thanks for your answer.

Versioning is done at Box.com. The last time I used Box, you could not disable versioning. That was a couple of years back and I think the Admin Console will now allow you to limit the number of versions below the default for your account type. You'd have to ask if 0 is a valid setting.

I checked and, unfortunately, there is no access to the Admin Console for free accounts, like mine.
The question I have now is: can I delete the files with names like "metadata (...@gmail.com 3).db" ? The metadata.db file is more recent than those.

AFAIK, you should be able to remove the version files.

Thank you very much, David. I will do so and see what happens.
Will not be the end of the world anyway since i have only a few hundred titles in the Calibre Library. I keep books outside of it and add only what I want and remove often.
