Kepub to KFX on Oasis 2?
I have some books I bought when I had a Kobo that I'd like to put on my Kindle Oasis 2, Will KFX format work if convert it to that in Calibre and side load?

I can't say whether it will work and if it does how the formatting of the book will be come out. I haven't seen anyone mention doing this sort of conversion previously and I am not familiar with kepub.

It will probably work just fine. Kobo's kepub is really a minor variant on ePub.
Converting to AZW3/KF8 is the first thing to try if converting to KFX doesn't go well. |

Install the Modify ePub plugin for Calibre to remove all the extra code in kepub. That will convert the kepub back into an ePub and then you can convert to KF8 or KFX.

I was able to get file made, with page numbers, but for some reason it doesn’t have a cover image when transferred to Oasis.

You should manually add matching ASIN id from Amazon page for the book you're converting into "ids" metadata input box in Calibre's Edit Metadata window (as "amazon: Bxxxxxxxxx"), before converting the book to KFX format.
If that information exists the plugin will use it when it creates kfx file and later Kindle will download the correct cover thumbnail from Amazon's servers based on the ASIN id it contains ... just like if it were a retail book (you're faking that your converted and sideloaded book is retail, from Kindle Store). Take a look at "Showing Cover Thumbnail Images on E-Ink Kindle Devices" spoiler for more details: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=272407 Last edited by shamanNS; 05-26-2018 at 08:03 AM. |
