automated conversion excepting pdf

I've configured calibre to do automated conversion to mobi when a book is added but i want this conversion to be disabled when the inserted book is PDF

is that possible?

No, but why does it matter? You can configure calibre to prefer PDF when seding files to devices, so that if a book has both, the PDF wil be sued rather thant he MOBI.
