Kobo aura screen good enough for manga?

I was looking at buying a kobo aura HD as my ereader, but I have realised that it is outside my price range. Does the kobo aura non-HD have a good enough display for reading manga? Are there other, better kobos with a light around the same price?

if it matters, I'm ideally looking for an older model that I can roll back to a firmware running the old homescreen.

I don't have a Kobo Aura but I do have both a Kindle Paperwhite 2 (768x1024 212ppi) and a Kindle Paperwhite 3 (1072x1448 300ppi). Imho, the PW2 isn't quite clear enough for manga so I expect the Kobo Aura wouldn't be good enough either. As it is, I think the PW3 with its 6" 300ppi display already pushes the limits of legibility.

Where are you located though? I've seen refurbished Kobo Aura HD for $70 + shipping on ebay.

P.S.: I just ordered a Kobo Glo HD (same screen as PW3) myself and plan on doing an internal SD card upgrade (to 64/128GB).

I'm in the UK, I saw one refurbished for £60 but it sold before I could get my hands on it, and the rest are £100+.

In that case, try for a Kobo Glo HD (1072x1448).

Based on my experience with Android tablets, I wouldn't recommend any reader with less than 800x1200 resolution. That's the absolute minimum you should look for.
