Kobo models that support using an older/custom homescreen?

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a kobo reader but I dislike the default homescreen on modern kobo devices. Is it a better idea to go for an older kobo and roll back to a firmware with the old-style homescreen, or is there a way to install a custom homescreen to a newer kobo device?

If you don't want to use the current home screen, you need a device that will run firmware version 4.3.8842 or earlier. That means anything before the Aura H2O Edition 2 will work.
