lines on screen

my kobo screen has lines down half of it. never used, is there a fix?

Post a pic to be sure, but that sounds like it could very likely be a broken screen for which the fix is screen replacement or a new device. It's possible that it's just a controller or loose wire issue. Bought new or "used"? If bought from a reseller it might have been damaged in transit.
