Is this normal after opening the shell?

My shell has been opened.

And I connected the iLiad to PC but I still cannot look into the the main memory of the iLiad, nor can I see the iLiad device from Windows Explorer.

I thought there should be a removable device in the Windows Explorer.\. But there is not. Is this normal?

Shell access should have nothing to do with exporting a filesystem via USB. It does not change which filesystems can be exported, or which particular filesystem is exported.

However, USB export only happens when in the contentlister. The iLiad also then shows the "connected to PC" screen.

Thanks Wallcraft,

Yes I understand you were talking about the EXPORTING and what I wanted to do is to EXPLORING ths iLIAD.

For many devices that has an USB connectivity to a PC, Windows can usually identifies an removable device, or removable disk. (cellphones, cameras))

In that case I can EXPLORE the foders, files in that device. I was wondering if this is pissible with iLIAD.

If you connect to your computer with USB, it should show up as a removable drive. However, it only connects the folder that stores your books, documents, etc. It does not mount the whole file system.

The iLiad will export any one of several file systems to your PC (e.g. internal memory, CF card, ...). However, it never exports the file system that contains the operating system. With shell access there are several ways round this: a) load and use the Mrxvt terminal application on the iLiad, or b) load and use the EmelFM2 File Manager on the iLiad, or c) load and run the dropbear SSH daemon on the iLiad and login to it over Ethernet from your PC. See Iliad Software.

Thanks again for Thomas, and I have been reading the wiki you provided.

But I have heard a lot about you guys talking about Mrxvt, and I did a search on it here, and found Scotty1024 had post released Mrxvt for iLiad:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ighlight=Mrxvt

But the version was 0.1.

However, I found on the wiki the Mrxvt has 3 higher releases, which are:

mrxvt_iliad_0.3.zip
mrxvt_iliad_0.4.zip
mrxvt_iliad_xshell_0.5.0.zip

I am not sure which one I should download and install for my device. I guess I may need it some time or later in case of a problem that needs some linux commands to fix.

Thanks again for advice.

Get the xshell package. Best integration with Content Lister.

I agree with CleverClothe about xshell.

However, if you just want mrxvt functionality then copy the (unzipped) xshell version to your CF card and select "Run standalone" (Run without the need for installation) from the contentlister menu. This should start up mrxvt without installing it - which is the way all the earlier versions worked.
