Force Calibre to refresh to reflect new book sizes
Calibre 3.16, 64-bit
I compressed many pdf and epub files and deleted the old larger files so as to free some space on the drive. Calibre does not reflect the new size. I tried opening and editing metadata by refreshing it but the size remains as the old large file. Is there any plugin or trick to force Calibre to reflect the newer size? I do not want to remove the files and re-add to Calibre. They are just too many files to do that. Many thanks in advance. |

If you want the sizes updated in Calibre, you must always use Calibre to change the format files. So, for EPUBs, run a Polish job on them to at least losslessy compress their images, and embed and subset their fonts.
I cannot think of anything for PDFs other than reconverting them to PDF or to EPUB. PDFs are problematic in the base case, so take care. Reconverting PDFs to PDF can change their layout so they do not resemble the original. PDFs are terrible ebook formats. DaltonST |

Have you tried Library Maintenance - Check Library? Then select Yes on the prompt for Do you want to check if the files in your library match the information in the database?
