I got my new copy of Magellan's Travel catalog yesterday, and what do I see flipping through it but a bright red ECTACO jetBook!

It's good to see reading devices cropping up in new places. This one isn't e-ink, but rather LCD, so it only gets ~20 hours on a charge, but there's a place for that tech. Of course, at $349, one wonders what would draw a buyer who knew about the e-Ink devices.

But it's good to see them getting more exposure.

I'm no fan of the JetBook (it has a rather restrictive choice of formats) but, as you rightly say, Nat, it is good to see eBook readers start to move out of niche retailers into the "mainstream".

But if the Jetbook is the first device people come upon, they may end up being turned off to the idea.

I notice on the new newegg site for Canada they actually sell it. I wonder why they carry it and not some of the others.

Well, Home Depot sells the 505 on their website. So yes, eBook readers are out there in some of the oddest places.
