Copy custom tag to author tag

Is there someway to copy a custom tag to the author tag. I have a bunch of comics that only had the artist tags but no author tags because they're the same. I saw that maybe Search and Replace could help but I don't know how to get the replacement to equal the tag instead of text.

Are you using the word 'Tag' to mean 'field' (a place to put data on a form)?

The MDE S&R allows destination to be specified.
(I use REGEX mode because it allows Captures of portions of the search term)

Samples of the data you are Starting with and a sample of what you want to end up with, would help clarity

I think I got it. I was having the search field look in the author field and search mode in match. I could have put the search on artist and search mode be expression and it writes to the author field.

So it looks like
search field: #artist
search mode: regular expression
search for: unknown
replace with : #artist
destination field: #authors
