Hi everyone
I'm sorry for asking the same repetitive questions as others might have asked but... Please help me out here! I recently received a Kobo Aura H20 (2nd Edition) as a belayed birthday gift. It's my very first ereader!! And i have absolutely no friggn idea about anything ereader related haha ![]() Anyways, I ended up buying some manga and some novels to fill it I guess since I plan to go digital. The manga seems a little choppy when I read it on the reader tho, and the touch screen seems to lag a little (when i type my email or enter the pin it seems like theres a 2~3 second lag when i touch it to appear written). I have absolutely no bloody idea/knowledge about anything ereader related it is completely alien to me, and I'm seeing a lot of users have said that it's better to convert manga from epub to cbz (or cbr? idk). I've read a little on what cbz/cbr files are, however I'm still not 100% confident in what/how I'm suppose to work it to put on this ereader? I've also browsed the forum for some threads but they all appear to be a bit too complicated for me to grasp. I'm also seeing a lot of users tell others to use "calibre" or "koreader" and im not entirely sure what they represent to the ereader. Do I have to use them? I downloaded that Kobo setup thing to view my purchases via my desktop too. But anyways, can someone please super dumb it down for me, just to help me get an idea on what everything kobo ereader related is? I plan to buy a fair few mangas in the future and I'd rather know how to convert them and read them with ease before i start buying more later. And possibly if it's not too much to ask, suggest any other handy stuff for a completely ereader noob? Thanks and apologies again ![]() |

For information about Calibre, it would probably be best to check out the Calibre Forum on this site. You might want to start with the following threads found there:

Eink screens are a little slow in response time, simply due to the technology. If you are used to the responsiveness of a tablet, it will likely feel sluggish.

@nyanyan: At this point, the thing to do is put a couple of books on the device and read them. Just drop the books in the root directory of the device and eject the device. Forget about anything else, and just use the device for a few days. And poke, tap, long press and swipe around the device. That way you will find a lot of what it can do. After a few days, you will have an idea of what you like, don't like and what you want to change. And what questions to ask.
If you read Manga, it comes in different formats. Two are CBZ and CBR. These are just renamed zip and rar files containing the images. The Kobo devices handle these well. But, some people prefer to convert to epub or kepub for reading. I don't read manga or comics, so I'm not the person to ask about this. Calibre is a library management application. Once you have a few books, you need something to manage them, and I don't know of anything that comes close to calibre for this. It can manage the books, convert formats and communicate with most devices. KOReader is alternative reader software. It's popular for those who don't like the Kobo software and particularly if PDF reading is important. It is also available for other devices. |

Not sure KOReader is working properly on the 2nd Edition, yet. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...11#post3609611
