				Book cover with blurb

I am looking for a solution to scroll through my unread books and find the next best by inspiration.

Creating a catalogue is time consuming, always outdated and not flexible. As I like to use this on the pc I played around with calibre function. - book details is currently the best as I can set a filter and make the view veeeeery wide to see the whole blurb. But not realy nice to look at and I need to adjust that wide afterwards. - grid and list does not offer to show a long text at once - book info shows each and every column without an option to hide or sort. Therefore the blurb is at the very end (not visible) and I need to scroll down. - title browser seems to work as I am allowed to choose a template for the text to be shown under the image. But .... the text size is too big and shows only about 50 characters. So this is where I like to ask the experts: how to create a template resp. a column to show the blurb in a smaller size. Or maybe the size of that function needs to be changed somewhere else? At the end this will become a nice possibility to run through all or a subset of books looking at the cover but reading the blurb. |

Use the content server. You can define a template for the book list that includes a cover and comments.

This sounds as if you are trying to adjust the Book Details within the confines of the calibre view. If you select a book and hit the "i" key you will get a pop up book details window that may be more to your liking.

The content server is perfect when my husband is «blocking» the pc and I am on my ipad. But isn't it a bit exaggerated to start the content server only to get a specific view when I am on the pc and calibre is running anyhow? Quote:

book info shows each and every column without an option to hide or sort. Therefore the blurb is at the very end (not visible) and I need to scroll. So without possibility to hide or sort like for most other views it will not show the comment/blurb without scrolling for each book. Is it possible to write a template for a column which includes the font siize? The title browser allows to select a template resp. column. I know how to do that but not how to add font size. |

Now I see there is a configuration button on the I-view. Independent whether this is new or I was blind: thanks for providing that! No need to scroll anymore as I show only few fields above the comment. Cursor also works well, when it is placed on the grid again. Perfect. |
