Caesar is Dead by the late Australian expat UK-resident author Jack Lindsay (Wikipedia), a prolific author and activist with an early specialty in the Greek and Roman classics, is his vintage historical political drama novel set during the last days of the Republic of ancient Rome, taking place just after the assassination of Julius Caesar, exploring the reactions of the city in mourning and the scheming of competing allies and foes in the ensuing power vacuum, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press.

This was originally published in 1934 by The Edinburgh Press. Apparently the author had a rather interesting life and made a lot of contributions to political activism, which in turn apparently influenced his portrayal of various situations in his historical novels.
