Calibre Viewing Behaviour - Built-in Viewer/Reader
Using calibre 3.2.1 64bit version Same as the calibre 64bit-V2.83.0 - I used before I did the update
This Drop Caps issue Happens ONLY with the Calibre Viewer reader All My other eReader apps show these CSS Pages Correctly, I have No Idea what is Causing This ??? teve Gowdy - Should be Steve Gowdy - the DropCap "S" Appears on the next page. (See Picture) Next Post Shows the Drop Cap "S" on Wrong Page Last edited by Al Adams; 07-05-2017 at 08:37 PM. Reason: Next Post Shows the Drop Cap "S" on Wrong Page |

Also: Note This Drop Caps issue ONLY HAPPENS ON Five Chapters, of the 69 Chapters in this eBook ... The Chapters that are affected each and every time the the eBook is loaded into the Calibre Library Are: Chapter Numbers 1, 9, 11, 14, and 22 and only THOSE Chapters Are Affected by this Drop Caps thing ???? Very Strange !!!

do all the dropcaps have the same CSS class?
AND do all the files use the same CSS? There has to be a style code difference or a(small) error. |

This Shows a Copy of Edit View of Chapter #2 as seen by the editor - I see No Difference in the idea of a Small Error You have Talked about ... Very Strange ...

This Appears to be a BUG in the calibre viewer/reader ??? I am thinking ... Can't Prove it though so I am NOT turning it in as a Bug Report ... At least NOT YET .... Do with this what you feel or desire - It works (the converted eBook) on All of my Tablets, and nook simple touch ... So I Still think it is a Bug of some kind ???

do all the dropcaps use the EXACT same style class (dropcaps-1)?
I had some drops that looked fine in Calibre and Sigil, but my K4 did a terrible job. K4's ignore some styles (only uses SOME of the Internal style settings Change font-size. Size works, side-Margins, iffy ) |

@Al Adams - I agree, when I compare the snippets in the images, it looks like a 'bug'. But what I can't easily compare is the combined final style. This can be viewed in the editors Live CSS panel (or the Inspector panel).
Rather scattering snippet images in multiple posts, perhaps you should post an obfuscated version of the epub, which you can get via the ScrambleEbook optional plugin. BR |

I've run into the same issue, and it appears to depend on the length of the first paragraph (the one with the drop cap) and the size of the window.
If the first paragraph is short, then the bottom of the drop cap falls within the next paragraph, and the reader appears to think it belongs with that one, instead of the first one. If your window size is small, then it moves the drop cap it to the next page, along with the next paragraph. I happen to have that book (Nighthawk), and can get the same behavior to happen by shrinking the size of my reader window. |
