Calibre Server 3.0: Error when sorting

After upgrading to calibre 3, when I browser to the server page and attempt a sort, I get the following error:

Failed to load books from calibre library, with error:
Failed to communicate with "/interface-data/books-init?library_id=Calibre&sort=%23formats.asc&149902 8318243", network error, is the server running and accessible?

Any help appreciated,

That indicates the browser cannot reach the server. Look in the server log for errors, although with network errors the error could be anywhere between the browser and the server.

Yes, but just to be clear, I can reach the server normally. It's _only_ when attempting a sort that I get this error.

That's because the interface is designed to operate in offline mode, so it will only try to contact the server when absolutely needed, such as for changing a sort.
