Problem with starting Calibre 3.1.0 and newer

With Calibre 3.1.0 and newer (Windows 10) I get always the error message that my library may be damaged. The option to restore the library doesn't work. If I re-install 3.0.0 then all works fine again.

Check the permissions on the metadata.db file in your calibre library directory. Although, given that you say the error occurrs only with some versions of calibre and others (the code for that part of calibre has not changed in years), more likely it is some software interfering with calibre.
