Green color on half my screen

I just got my Kobo aura one, and when in night mode, it has a strange green coloring in the bottom. It looks like a green led light is stronger than the others.
I reached out to Kobo and waiting for a response.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Or does it need to be replaced?

Yes, it needs to be replaced. It should be an orangish/redish color.

Wow, what a disappointment. I waited for it to be in Stock and then it arrived broken.

Is this a common problem?

It is not a common problem. This is the first time I've seen/read of such a problem.

Update : spoke to tech support and they want me to check my settings, light and change the color to see if it is a setting problem. Unfortunately I have to check that later.
Of not they will send me a label.

I don't understand how the setting would effect one light and not the others

It's not "broken"...I think adjusting the light settings is a good idea....personally I want a white (or off-white) screen with black letters, not an orange, red, green, or any other color screen. So if it was me, I would be testing to see if it looked green under normal circumstances.

I didn't test anything. I just turned it on and half the screen was green. Not what I expected for my upgrade for my old Kobo.

The light orange is very nice when reading at night, one of the reasons I upgraded

In spite of what Jon said, this is not an uncommon issue (not sure I'd quite go so far as to say it's common, but it's not rare). It's something to do with the night lighting LED's and there are definitely differences between devices. What you've got is definitely at the extreme end of having green blobs. If the night lighting is set to zero and you're seeing this then it's a really big dud.

In that case, I can see how you would be disappointed. But like robko said, how does it look on a normal light setting, I think the night setting can be turned off?

With the night setting off there is no coloring problem. The screen is white and clear.

I am currently using an Aura Glo HD, so was looking forward to the larger screen and night lighting.

Kobo Tech support had me reset the device to factory, although it just came from the factory yesterday with the problem.

Hopefully they will send me a new one so I can move on.

For now, the Aura Glo HD is still a great device.

Factory reset is highly unlikely to help as it's primarily a hardware issue. Hopefully you'll get a better screen next time. They got the regular light down pat, but IMHO the natural light is still a bit of a work in progress. Fortunately for me I don't really use the natural light much (just a touch to take out harshness) so it doesn't bother me

I'm hoping they agree to send me a new one. I had to wait a few weeks for them to be in Stock..

Do you think it's better to wait for the next version? I didn't realize this was new technology, just though new when applied to an eReader.

I like to stick with Kobo because I have all my books there and changing to Kindle would be a waste.

Still waiting for them to send a replacement. Does anyone know if they will cross ship the device?
Or will I have to send mine back first?
