Kobo Desktop App update

I was setting up a Kobo ereader for a friend using their computer and noticed that while my computer wasn't showing an update for the KDA, the version I downloaded from the Kobo site was updated to version 4.3.7007, 3/8/17 (14b5a0d83e) (Windows version).

My H2O updated today to 4.3.8966 and the desktop app shows 4.3.7007 as well.

The Mac desktop client got an "important update" just now, taking it to 4.3.5765. Dated "3/8/17 (14b5a0d83e)".

Hello Kobo, ever heard about localised date formatting? ;-)

I believe the date you are referring to is a string that gets populated during the checkout of the source from a version control system. About all they could do would be to use a format that used month name as opposed to month number.

When you post a date in an international forum, please use March, 08, 2017 for the date so people who use a different date format won't get confused if your numbers make a valid date in their format.

They shouldn't expose the git string directly in the UI. Their build system should insert the git revision information into internal variables so that the UI can then format them all correctly for the current locale. Format at runtime, not build time.

Jon, I was copying/pasting that information. Personally, I would have written it 2017-Mar-08. Not quite the standard date format here but hard to misread.
