Post Alternatives for Dropbox to store book library

Hello everyone.

I have a book library of 40Gb that is currently stored for free in Dropbox (due to promotion from Samsung). The problem is that, this promotion is coming to an end now, and the 99€ per year for Dropbox plus, are extreme.

So, i looking for cheap alternatives to store my library and make it accesible through Calibre Companion pro (i find it, very efficient for my needs). I am also using Moon Reader pro. I have an ereader, tablet and mobile that i use to download my books and sync my reading position throught dropbox.

First i thought about google drive, but then i red from many users that it mangles your files.

What cloud alternatives do you use?

Desktop Calibre is agnostic regarding cloud service providers, but you should heed the caveats in I am getting errors with my calibre library on a networked drive/NAS/Cloud Storage?

Calibre Companion is restricted to a specific set of Cloud Service providers, so I'm moving this thread to its forum.

you could continue with dropbox but only store some subset of the library which will fit the free allowance. or look at ways to split one 40Gb library into several smaller ones
that way you can continue to use moon reader sync to dropbox for the books that are currently in use.
Google drive has the most generous free allowance but has known issues.
there's also amazon drive to consider, i think their unlimited price is less than dropbox

You could also run your own cloud server (available on some NAS).
IMHO Dropbox Plus (1T) is reasonably priced here in the USA when you get a 1Y subscription.

You will need to decide if the convenience is worth the Drachma

it should only take a few minutes to create a, lets call it mycurrent library, in calibre, move 1Gb of your 40 into that, and arrange to sync only that small subset to dropbox via a utility like free file sync set to one way mirror. dropbox give 2Gb free and immediately boost that to 2.5, then with referrals and bonuses, you can gradually take that up to 15.
then you just move stuff between your large and small calibre libraries as needed.
what take up 40Gb anyway, Have tou some big picture books or just many thousands of normal sized ones.

otherwise you can add a 64Gb or 128GB SD card to your Samsung and store everything on the device, where CC can still see it. You just have to master android's annoying rules and limitations for additional storage, but there will be folks here who have bravely gone before down that path ( I haven't )

Calibre Companion Cloud Connection can be configured to access a calibre library stored on a portable drive plugged into your phone/tablet. My 'just up the road' office supply shop has 2TB Toshiba drives at AUD99.00, you'll need an OTG cable.

IIRC chaley wrote of his usage somewhere. Advantages are: greater capacity, works off-line, hence no dependence on network availability or performance.
