"New" Michael Crichton book
Probably old news, but I did a search and didn't find anything so...
"HarperCollins Publishers Acquires Novel by Michael Crichton" http://www.michaelcrichton.com/harpe...hael-crichton/ Edit: The book showed up in my Overdrive library |

Sounds like it might link up with Jurassic Park in a way. I mean they dig up the fossils in this one and later in JP and LW dna from the fossils is used to recreate the dinosaurs.

Historical novel like "The Great Train Robbery", but about real people and their famous, even notorious rivalry. A good non-fiction coverage of the historical characters is in "A Short History of Everything" by Bill Bryson. Sounds like fun.

There were connections between some of the techno-thrillers (sometimes in arguably veiled, deniable ways). I've never read any of his other kinds of books, but I might give this one a try. |

Michael Crichton was a wonderful author and a great man in all ways. His life was extraordinary. Writing books while he was in school, even in Medical school. He just couldn't stop.
(I have heard him speak.) |

I like a lot of Crichton's books, not all but most. My favorite was the 13th Warrior, also titled Eater of the Dead, which was his take on the Beowulf story. Crichton had a long string of best sellers and IMPO is well worth reading. I've already pre-ordered the new release.

Didn't they source the DNA in JP and LW from insects that had sucked blood from the dinosaurs and been preserved in amber?

Maybe it is how he writes but I notice his books translate more directly into film than any other author I can recall. Very few of his scenes or subplots are greatly changed for the many movies made from his books. Maybe he writes in a more 'visual' way?

E.T. (1982) The book was plain awful. Not just juvenile, but outright horrible. I enjoyed the movie so much, I acquired the book and then after reading a few pages gave it to the Thrift store. |

Looks interesting! I have a few non-fiction (hardcopy) books on the Marsh and Cope "bone wars" -- I've interested since I was a kid.
But I suspect I'll pick it up in the library. |

I think that was just a novelization of the screenplay rather than the movie being based on the book. |
