Problem in resize page

Hi

I've downloaded Calibre to convert a rtf file to epub.

Besides minor problems, my cover appears distorted (the width is too large). The size is about, supose, a portrait A4, and appears as if it was almost a landscape...

I want to place this in Kindle store, Amazon, etc. Can anyone please explain me how to maintain the proportion of the pages (like in normal epub books)?

Kind regards,

JKepler

I use Sigil to edit ePubs instead of Calibre, so some of my advice might be off.

If you open the ePub and view the image, is it distorted there? If the actual image isn't distorted and it's just the way it's being displayed, you should be able to go to Tools/Add Cover and it will correct it.

If the image in the ePub has somehow been distorted, you should be able to add the cover from the Calibre folder using Add Image, then go to Tools/Add Cover.

Sorry if my directions are vague. I'm not at home and am going off of memory.

You should probably be asking bout this in one of the E-Book Formats forums. That is the place on MobileRead where e-book creation and publishing is discussed. (A moderator can move this thread if you ask.)

My understanding is that when you publish on Amazon using KDP you also upload your cover as a separate file and that replaces the cover in your book. So how your cover looks now in the EPUB isn't going to be important for that use case. (I still recommend that you fix it anyway.)

This appears to be a calibre question.

Thread now moved out of the General Discussion Forum.

When you are converting your book, on the left hand side menu of the Convert Dialogue is a tab for "Epub Output." When you open that, there is a checkmark to "preserve Cover Aspect Ratio."
