Adding books from Calibre
Hi

Just a quick question. I just got a kindle paperwhite and I've added some books from calibre to it via USB. the books show up fine. My eBooks are all in calibre. However if I download the kindle app to my phone or computer, will the books show up in that app as well?

if not how can I have them on both the kindle and the kindle app?

Far as I've ever found the only way to get things to show up in the desktop and mobile kindle apps, is either buying from Amazon, or sending them through the amazon document conversion/upload thing. You should have an email you can send files to, that will populate everywhere. Once uploaded, they should show up as uploaded documents (I don't think they will show up as books, which sucks)

and if you ever go visit the Calibre sub-forum here on MR, you'll see lots and lots of people asking why the "email to kindle" isn't working with pages of possible answers.

Install send to kindle and set it up.Then in calibre on the right where the book info is shown click to open path, right click the mobi book and use send to kindle

on PC it is easy.
starting from where you have the books in calibre already and have them converted to an amazon format ( mobi or AZW ):
# 1. install kindle for PC
# 2. in calibre preferences, set use external reader for mobi, azw...

then when you double click on a book in calibre, calibre will tell windows to use the default app for that format, which should be your newly installed kindle for PC app. what happens then is that the kindle app places a copy of the book into your my docs - my kindle content folder for future use, leaving the original still in calibre
