Wish list - feature requests - Preview Pane

I see a discussion warming up on another thread about Book View, and thought I would mention these feature requests for Preview Pane. These are all very minor issues, and I, for one, can certainly live with the status quo.

I love Preview Pane, and Book View can go south at midnight for all of me. It messed up my code a few too many times, and I never use it any more EXCEPT to quick-test Links (Links just don't seem to work in Preview)
and to Copy and Paste formatted, untagged text to another application.


My prime feature request for Preview Pane --- for links to actively jump to the target.

Secundus: to make it easy to select text in the pane (it can be done now, but is very touchy and loses selection too easily)

My third wish is a solution to my zoom-text-size problem. For some unknown reason, I can't use kb shortcut (CTRL +/-) to zoom the text size, UNLESS I dock the pane the first time. After that, the shortcut will work on the floating pane for a while, but eventually, I must dock it again. I always deploy that pane undocked (for easy dragging), and it is a minor pain in the fanny-pack to have to dock it periodically.

Let me stress again--- these are really MINOR issues, and only to be considered by the programmers faced with a long boring rainy day with nothing better to do than scrub the garage floor with a toothbrush.

Didn't even know ctrl+ '-/+' was supposed to work, but I rarely want to resize the text. FWIW my ctrl+ '-' works sometimes, but ctrl+ '+' never, regardless of dock/undock etc. I'd deign to use the slider bar gadget if I needed to.

Only it does seem like the pane MUST be docked and activated for the slider to work. If it is floating, the code pane takes focus for the slider.

Incidentally, you must use the + on the top row of keyboard--- the one on the side num-keypad does not work. However, the minus from either one will work to "smallen" your text.

I have to resize larger frequently, eyes tire very quickly.

I don't really use the zoom feature, but I'll certainly look into any flakiness surrounding its functionality.

Ah-ha, I would have used numpad '+' and '-'. I rarely, if ever, use the ones on the top row for arithmetic purposes. I have preview permanently docked on the right - I dismiss with F10 if gets in the way of something. I'm not even sure how much I actually look at it, it's more of a comfort thing - and I don't like having CV window too wide.

I'd like to add something to your wish list.

Option to underline mispelt words in Preview, just that - i.e no editing.

Added : Begosh and begorrah - I just discovered that ctrl+top row '+' and '-' zoom code view - why wasn't I told?

I see what you mean about text selection/highlighting being very fiddly. I'd be willing to bet that has something to do with Preview and Code View trying to stay synchronized (cursor position).

if its hard to fix, provide an option to copy selected text to clipboard as soon as it's selected from Preview window, with or without markup. Like autocopy extension in browsers

My favorite is Ctrl + scroll your mouse wheel up/down. I use that all the time to raise/lower zoom in Notepad++ and Firefox/Chrome.

Yup, CTRL + mousewheel works in tons of Windows apps. Just not in Sigil.

Years ago, I tried Firefox, and deleted it in two days because it set the wheel direction reversed from all other applications. How annoying! Went to Opera, and never looked at Firefox again.
