Free (nook/Kindle) Heiress by Janet Dailey [Sibling Rivalry Family Saga w/Romance]

Heiress by bestselling author Janet Dailey (Wikipedia) is her standalone contemporary sibling rivalry family saga drama with strong f/m romantic elements set in modern Texas horse ranching country, as two half-sisters meet for the first time at their father's funeral, leaving one incensed that he has left his fortune to this secret daughter, leading to a lifelong escalating rivalry between the two women as each tries to one-up and ruin the other in life and love, in a feud passed on through the generations, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Open Road Media's Romance imprint, who are e-printing it from its 1987 edition originally out from Little, Brown & Co..

This is B&N's featured Free Fridays selection, but unlike most of the ORM non-PD freebies we've gotten in the past, seems not to be available in all the US stores this time around, and is only price-matched at Amazon so far.

Currently free, probably just for one day like other Open Road freebies, but possibly through the weekend as other B&N Free Fridays have been @ B&N & Amazon (not available to Canadians). Price-drop-check linkage for for Kobo & iTunes & Google Play, if you're feeling optimistic.

Description
New York Times Bestseller: Two Texan half sisters battle over their father’s fortune, risking their relationships with the men who love them.

Standing over her father’s coffin, Abbie Lawson wonders if he ever actually loved her. Yes, he’d given her wealth, a place in the top echelon of Houston society, and horses—a farm full of Arabians—but not his attention. On those important family occasions, he was always away on business in California. And then Abbie sees why . . .

On the fringe of the crowd of mourners at the funeral is a woman whose face nearly mirrors her own—a second daughter. And, as if that betrayal isn’t enough, she discovers that her father has left his money to the interloper. Abbie has the Arabians, but not the money to support them. As she witnesses her rival’s rise in the Texas social scene, a tall, rough-hewn oil man named MacCrea Wilder enters her life. She doesn’t need the distraction, but there’s something about his sinewy arms that keeps her mind circling back to his kiss. Yet, as the years pass, even love may be sacrificed to the bitterness between these two women.

With over 300 million books sold, Janet Dailey is one of the great names in fiction. In Heiress, she tells the story of half sisters trapped in a bitter rivalry, providing the “solid entertainment” that made her famous (Publishers Weekly).

It's still not free at Kobo, but I was able to get them to price match it at 10% off the price at B&N.
