Things you can try:
1) Uninstall calibre and delte c:\Program Files\Calibre2, then re-install it (this will not affect your calibre books or settings) 2) Temporarily disable your antivirus program and see if ti makes a difference |

Something on your computer is preventing those modules from being loaded, if it isn't a corrupted install or an antivirua program then you will basically have to hunt through the programs runnign on your computer one by one to find the problem. Not much I can do to help you with that.

I'm afraid trying to walk you through finding the problem program is more time than I have available, but you can instead try installing one of these calibre builds: https://download.calibre-ebook.com/betas/
they are betas for the upcoming calibre 3.0 release and use a different technique for loading modules that might work on your computer. As before uninstall calibre, then install one of those builds. |

Try deleting the Calibre2 directory and reinstall. If that doesn't solve the problem, run windows in safe mode (plenty of information via Google how to do so) and see if Calibre runs. If Calibre runs, then you'll need to find out what's starting with the computer that's causing the problem.

Hi,
It's me again. I didn't notice that U Mr.Kovidgoyal are a Creator of Calibre. I want to say that your application is the best, in my opinion, on the market. I'm not professional, but from the beginning of e-books was dreaming about e-book readers and tablet, of course nobody even was thinking to call them this way because they were not existing yet. In the moment when I found your program (Calibe) I knew that this is what I need it and after this, I never was looking for something else because this is perfect. It is how it looks, how is organized, how works (I never have before any problems with it) just now and for sure was not application error is something about my OS. I wish You good luck. And one thing more, I don't have luck in my life but already few times I brought Big Things for my friends and for strangers than don't be surprise if something good will happen to U. ![]() Last edited by tarmarajah; 02-18-2017 at 09:59 PM. |

I have a similar issue: When I try to launch Calibre 3.13 (the latest version, I believe) it fails to launch and displays an error window: "Python function terminated unexpectedly / DLL load failed: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. (Error Code: 1)" However, if I launch calibre-debug -g instead of calibre, calibre launches successfully (along with a separate cmd.exe window that displays some debugging info). Hopefully this will provide a hint to the developer to let him find and fix the issue, and in the meantime will show users how to work around the problem.

Does calibre-debug.exe use a different Python than calibre.exe uses? My computer has many versions of Python installed, and perhaps calibre.exe is using a different, older version. I'm just taking a wild guess.

No they all use the same python, which calibre comes bundled with. Your issue is almost certainly caused by an antivirus program that is interfering with calibre.exe but not calibre-debug.exe

Or perhaps yet another variant of the windows NUL device corruption problem.
