Reading progress on lower left of Voyage screen hard to press and change
Is it just me? I've felt like this ever since I bought the otherwise great Voyage. I generally like to read without any progress showing, but here and there like to find out how far along I am and like the reading progress options on the bottom of the screen. The simplest way to find out is to press on reading progress to bring it up, but it's so cranky!
You should just be able to press your finger in the lower left of the Voyage screen to change the reading progress. When I try to however, it usually takes about ten presses or more each time, trying slightly left and then right and then back again each way, before I finally hit the 'correct' spot to change it. And when you have to cycle through multiple reading progress options to hit the one you want the necessary presses can really add up. And the 'correct' spot doesn't stay the same! Every time it moves left or right, sometimes a lot. I've even tried per specific reading progress type to see if each progress has a specific spot based on word length or something, to no avail. Does anyone know why this is? Is it just my Voyage or all of them? Anyone know the magic trick to get it to work on the first press each time? PS- I know how to change the reading progress through the menu, but it takes longer than the lower left screen press should take and would prefer to use the simpler screen press option that should work more easily. |

I agree that pressing the corner to change the progress is a bit less than reliable but I never have to tap more than about twice. Usually once is enough. I just did a little playing with that on my Voyage and I was able to make it less reliable by pressing too long. A quick tap is what I usually use, just slightly above the bottom of the screen area about 3/4" to an inch from the left.

I have a Kindle PW2 and a Voyage--I find tapping the bottom left corner to change the reading progress display on the PW2 very easy, but it is a bit of a challenge on the Voyage.

I found after updating to the latest firmware, this issue was fixed for me.

Yes, on my Voyage tapping that spot had been a challenge from the start. On my Oasis by the way it works perfect. So what I did on the Voyage that worked for me much better is not tapping, but doing a short swipe up from the corner. That never failed. Just a quick little swipe, fling it up.

I agree that at the beginning it was *very* difficult to find the spot, on my Voyage. In one of the upgrades, that was fixed (though I haven't touched the spot too often since). Have you allowed you Voyage to upgrade, or do you keep it always offline?

I just go into the font and page settings and change it there if I need to. I have both a voyage and PW2

Glad it's not just me! Well, I mean, I'm not glad other Voyage users have a similar problem, but I'm glad I don't have an 'off' model.

My Voyage had this problem.. eventually (almost 3 years later) the whole screen started malfunctioning.
I still have a PW2 and that one definitely works the easiest. I have an Oasis now and it's easier to flip that page indicator on the Oasis but I would still say it's easiest on the PW2. I am not convinced the capacitive touch sensor on the Voyage/Oasis is better than the setup on the PW/PW2/PW3. |
