Changing Fonts

I have been reading the Wheel of Time series and when I loaded book 13 I found that the font size changed from page to page or sometimes paragraph to paragraph . It is hard to read a book when one page requires a magnifying glass and the next page only has 5 or 6 letters .

Has anyone else had this , can it be fixed or do I just have a funky download and just need to find another . I have had no trouble with any of the other books in the series at all .

Where did you buy it?
What device are you reading it on?

PS: if you found it free somewhere. Delete and actually pay for the book.

I've actually purchased books from Smashwords with that same exact problem. Sometimes the font size would change mid sentence. I emailed them, they finally issued new versions, but the new ones weren't much better. They cleaned up the code in some places but missed the majority of font changes throughout the book.

I just cleaned those books up myself using Sigil and only buy from them now when a book is nowhere else to be found.

If a book is up om Smashwords and you find it elsewhere, it's still the Smashwords edition at other places. The thing to do is dive into the code and fix the mess.

As for Wheel of Time #13, it's not legit. Please don't give any help.

If the original was like that with the fonts changing size, we would have read about it long before now.

I read Towers of Midnight on the kindle and you're wrong. There are no font problems. It is excellently formatted with no obvious errors of any type. Stop pirating ebooks.

As to where it was bought (not Pirated) I bought the whole set not long after #13 came out . Most of the info was lost when my old computer self destructed .leading to this problem . going through my Kobo I have found this problem with several other eBooks I have previously read with no problems .

any Ideas

If you still have the log-in for the store you bought them from (is that the info that was lost on your old computer?), it might be worth signing back in and re-downloading. If the formatting for such a major book was that bad, there's likely been an update.

unfortunately when is said it self destructed it really did. The hard drive spindle broke and the disc and reading heads tried to become one unit

Do you remember what stores you've shopped at? Even if you don't remember the password,as long as you have access to the email address on file, you can change the password and download the books again.

Try reading the same book in question on another device, just to make sure that it is indeed a book problem but not a Kobo Aura problem.

I remember years ago there were some people who had problems with the pinch-to-zoom feature of the Aura being activated accidentally when swiping to turn pages, so you might try turning that feature off. Also check that you are running a recent firmware version, as there was a bug in some old firmware versions that prevented the feature being turned off.

If the problem is in the book then, as with any other publishing problem, you can either complain to the publisher and hope they fix it (a waste of time with most publishers, but there are a few exceptions), or you can remove DRM and fix it yourself. But detailed instructions of how to fix it are difficult to give without a copy of the faulty book, or at least the stylesheet and a sample of the html, to see exactly what mistakes the publisher has made.

If you've removed any DRM then you could use the Scramble calibre plugin and provide a copy for someone to examine.

It's not a Kobo Aura problem. Kobo's do not have problems with different font sizes in the same eBook.
