Aura One bright light sensor
Picked up an Aura One and really like the experience. So far it's been my favorite reader of all time and I started with a Sony PRS505. It has the feeling of the kindle Dxg large screen only with a consistent light which I've warmed by removing some blueness. Very nice.
For anyone that cares, I've noticed battery improvement by disabling the feature "automatically turn off light in bright sunlight". Ironically, this is listed under the power savings section. Why have a sensor using power to know when you're in the sun to turn off power sipping LEDs? |

I'm actually very interested in how you know that? Since I've disabled it, I've seen definite improvement to battery life. It's the only variable I've changed.

It probably depends on how you use the light on your ereader. If you are someone who tends not to have the light set too brightly and don't fiddle with the levels that often, you will use up less battery power than someone who tends to have the light level set quite high. The auto light sensor will also push up the light level when in bright conditions, perhaps you don't bother doing that yourself?

I also noticed an improvement in battery life after disabling the "automatically turn off light in bright sunlight" control. I had previously turned off all the other lighting controls, so this was the only change that could have further impacted battery life. Battery life is my one big disappointment with the Aura One. Even with everything turned off, battery life is just ok. I realize it has a smaller battery, bigger screen, higher resolution, yada, yada, blah, blah. I want a longer time between charges, and I would be willing to accept a heavier device to get it. But I'm also willing to accept that I am probably in the minority.
